Nutty caramel slice

This no-bake nutty caramel-style slice is quicklybecoming one of our favourite recipes to make with kids..no oven, no blender, no fancy equipment required. Just a bowl, a spoon and a bunch of wholesome ingredients. With a yummy nutty base, a sticky caramel-like filling and a crunchy choc top, it’s a simple, nourishing snack that feels special but couldn’t be easier. Perfect for little helpers, after-school snacks and freezer stashes.

Suitable for 24 months+

Ingredients:

BASE:

1/2 cup almond meal

1/4 cup oat flour (blended oats)

2 TBS nut butter of choice

2 TBS honey or maple syrup

1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

FILLING:

3 TBS nut butter of choice (PB is yum here!)

1 TBS honey or maple

CHOC TOP:

1/2 cup melted dark chocolate

1/4 cup sliced almonds

Method:

Simply add all base ingredients into a large bowl and mix until well combined.

Add your mixture to a lined freezer safe dish and pat down firmly.

Add your filling ingredients to a bowl and mix until well combined. Pour this mixture on top of the base.

Melt your chocolate and stir through the sliced almonds (optional). Pour this mixture on top and sprinkle with any extra sliced almonds.

Set in the freezer for a few hours. You can either store these in the fridge or freezer. We prefer freezer as it lasts longer, but when you are serving them give them about 5-10 minutes to defrost before serving up.

These are appropriate for 24 months+

Enjoy!
