CHOCY SPREAD

Move over Nutella, we have a much better, more nutritious option that your kids will absolutely love (and you too).

Loaded with chickpeas giving you a great protein source to your spread, tahini, a nice calcium hit and raw cacao, rich in antioxidants. This is the perfect spread for lunchbox sandwhiches and for those toast mornings! BONUS: It’s nut-free!

INGREDIENTS

  • 425g tinned chickpeas, rinsed and drained

  • 2 TBS tahini

  • ¼ cup raw cacao

  • ½ cup water

  • 3 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • pinch of salt

METHOD

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line a baking tray.

Pat dry the chickpeas, spread over the tray and roast for 20-25 minutes until crispy.

Transfer the crispy chickpeas to a blender or food processor, add the remaining ingredients and blend for a couple of minutes until its a smooth consistency. for a thinner consistency, add 1-2 extra tablespoons of water.

Transfer to a jar and store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
